The Philippine medical community mourned the passing of three Filipino doctors who died from the coronavirus disease (Covid-19)
According to a report from the medical community, among those killed was Dr. Israel Bactol, 34, cardiology fellow-in-training of the Philippine Heart Association; Dr. Rose Pulido, medical oncologist at San Juan de Dios Hospital; and Dr. Greg Macasaet, anesthesiologist at Manila Doctors Hospital.
The Philippine Heart Center (PHC), in a statement, confirmed Bactol’s death and described him as “a casualty of this war” against Covid-19.
“We honor him as he lost his young life while fulfilling his duties as a doctor, a young cardiologist and a dedicated member of PHA,” the association said.
“You are a great loss to the medical profession and to our country. We thank you dear doctors for finishing the race with a great fight,” the group said.
“Please pray for the eternal repose of his soul. Please pray for all our members and all our other doctors and healthcare workers in the frontlines and all the people who are afflicted by the disease,”
